Here in CTI Clonmel we have a number of progression agreements in place with a number of colleges in Ireland and England. These colleges have places reserved for students who complete a course with us in CTI Clonmel.
University of Sunderland
Childcare:
If you complete our QQI Level 5 Early Learning and Care course and our QQI Level 6 Advanced Early Learning and Care course with us in CTI you can progress to the final year of BA (Hons) Childhood Studies (Level 8) which can be seen in the link below.

Entry Requirements:
QQI Level 6– Minimum Pass profile overall.
Additional benefits:
The University of Sunderland will give you free accommodation on their campus for one year. This is on a first come first served basis.
Further progression:
One year masters available to become a Primary School teacher in England, Scotland and Wales. If you want to become qualified in Ireland an additional Irish qualification is necessary. Please check with the Teaching Council of Ireland for more information.
Nursing:
If you complete our QQI Level 5 Nursing studies course with us in CTI you can progress to any of the following nursing courses in the University of Sunderland.
- BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Practice (Level 8)
- BSc (Hons) Learning Disability Nursing Practice (Level 8)
- BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing Practice (Level 8)
- BSc (Hons) Children’s and Young People’s Nursing Practice (Level 8)

Student who study this QQI Level 5 will gain entry into the first year of any of our three year nursing courses.
Entry Requirements:
QQI Level 5 Pre-Nursing – Minimum Pass profile overall.
Maths – Minimum O4 or QQI Level 5 Maths – Pass Profile
The University will be able to advise if don’t have either Maths.
Additional benefits:

- Guaranteed interview with the NHS.
- Two recruitment periods per year (April and September)
Sports
If you complete our QQI Level 6 Sports Industry and Management Studies course with us in CTI you can progress to any of the following sport courses in the University of Sunderland.
- Sports Coaching BSc (Hons) Level 8
- Sport and Exercise Sciences BSc (Hons) Level 8
- Physical Education and Youth Sport BA (Hons) Level 8

Student who study this QQI Level 6 will gain entry into the 2nd Year of one of our sports courses.

Progression Agreement with WIT
Waterford Institute of Technology offers preferential entry to students who successfully complete a QQI course in the Central Technical Institute (C.T.I) and who also meet certain criteria. Using your QQI qualifications to progress to University or an Institute of Technology
Any student with a full QQI award at Levels 5 or 6 can use this qualification to compete for a place in a third level college if that college is one of the 38 higher education colleges offering progression to QQI students. A full award consists of 8 modules including mandatory modules.
