Art Portfolio Preparation (Art)

Course Description

This Further Education course is one of the longest running portfolio preparation courses in the country and is specifically designed to meet the needs of the learners wishing to compile a strong individual and creative art portfolio for entry to third level. The course curriculum creates an opportunity for learners to explore traditional and contemporary art techniques and build their experiences in a diverse range of materials and media. An environment of innovation and autonomous learning reflects the third level college and employment experience, and aims to equip learners with confidence and proficiency in their art and design practice. Learners explore their creativity in a variety of digital and traditional media as they discover their artistic and design strengths. Work experience is a mandatory part of the course where learners are introduced to the world of professional, Art, Craft and Design practice, in partnership with local and national stakeholders.

Entry Requirements:

  • Successful performance at interview
  • Submission of 5 pieces of artwork at interview which include a minimum of one drawing
  • Leaving Cert (traditional or applied)
  • Other qualification at NFQ Level 4 (e.g. QQI Level 4 Award)
  • Mature students with appropriate vocational experiences

Progression:

Higher Education Institutions such as Limerick School of Art and Design, Crawford College of Art and Design, DIT, IADT, NCAD and WIT. CTI Senior College also offers both Fine Art and Silversmithing and Jewellery Design at QQI (FETAC) Level 6.
